SUFFOLK RESILIENCE FORUM PARTNERS SUPPORT JOINT UK/US TRAINING EXERCISE
Suffolk Resilience Forum (SRF) partners took part in Exercise DIAMOND DRAGON 2015 which was conducted at RAF Honington from 30 June to 2 July 2015. This was a joint UK/US nuclear emergency response exercise; the primary aim of the exercise was to test the UK MOD, U.S. and multi-agency response to a simulated crash in the UK of a U.S. aircraft carrying U.S. nuclear weapons leading to a simulated release of radioactive material.
The SRF provided simulated Strategic and Tactical Coordinating Groups to support the UK and US military command and control at the operational level. Police, Fire, Ambulance, Public Health England, Local Authorities participated in the exercise activity at the simulated crash scene and provided input and advice on civil emergency response activities. The Exercise play also involved national and international Strategic command elements that provided context and challenge to the local strategic play.
