Suffolk Resilience Forum Supports Flood Action Week 2026

Flood Action week runs from 12-18 October this year and we are encouraging residents, businesses and communities across Suffolk to take simple steps to prepare for flooding and become more resilient. With climate change bringing more frequent and intense weather events, it is increasingly important that individuals, businesses and communities understand their flood risk and know what actions to take before flooding occurs.

The Environment Agency says:

“6.3 million properties in England sit in areas at risk of flooding. And as our climate keeps changing, that risk keeps growing. Between April 2025 and March 2026 alone, we issued over 3,400 flood alerts, around 1,000 flood warnings, and 3 severe flood warnings.”

As part of Flood Action Week, SRF is encouraging everyone to take practical steps to become Flood Ready.

✅ Check your flood risk and sign up for flood warnings
✅ Check weather forecasts and road conditions before travelling
✅ Never drive, walk or cycle through floodwater
✅ Prepare an emergency kit and household emergency plan

The Environment Agency has launched Flood Action Online, a new website providing flood information, preparedness advice and government services. The website aims to help people better understand their flood risk, access trusted guidance, and take practical actions to reduce the impacts of flooding on their homes, businesses and communities.
