COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites are industrial areas which hold dangerous substances exceeding a certain level. If there were to be an incident involving these substances, this could potentially harm the public or the environment. As such, COMAH sites are regulated by the Health and Safety Executive to ensure public safety.

Suffolk has four upper tier COMAH sites that require off-site emergency plans, known as External Emergency Plans.

Public versions of these plans are available below.

For more details on the COMAH regulations and how they work please refer to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) website.

Calor Gas (Saxham) – International Flavours and Fragrances (Haverhill) – PPG Industries (Stowmarket) – Treatt plc (Bury St Edmunds)
